A Year in Review: Top 7 ways schools are maximizing the FamilyID platform during COVID-19

The year 2020 was full of unexpected changes. For schools, the COVID-19 pandemic brought a range of difficult decisions about how to keep students, staff, and communities safe. Although uncertainty follows us into the new year, we want to highlight the various ways schools have maximized the FamilyID platform during this challenging time as a way to share best-practices across our various school districts.

Without further ado, here are the top 7 ways schools are using FamilyID to reduce paper, save time, and keep everyone safe by reducing unnecessary contact points:

  1. New/Returning Student Registration

It is more important than ever before to be able to collect, access, and update information remotely. Online student registration eliminates the hassle of messy paperwork and chasing down missing information. It also eliminates the need for paper forms to change hands in the school office. We know keeping students and staff safe is a top priority, so FamilyID also helps you conduct Health Tracking for Back to School through the option of adding customized health questions to any registration form.

  2. Chromebook Registration

Remote learning requires continued access to educational tools and programs, which is why many districts are distributing Chromebooks to students as part of their COVID-19 education plan. Using the FamilyID platform, schools can gather parent signatures on mobile device agreements and protection plans.

  3. AP Test Registration

FamilyID can be used as a registration tool for Advanced Placement (AP) Tests, with the option to add important information such as payment deadlines, early-bird discounts and more.

  4. Medication Pick-Up or Discard

The FamilyID platform functions to solve problems on-demand. During the initial shut down, schools leveraged FamilyID’s custom questions to coordinate whether student medication stored in the nurse’s office would be picked up by a parent or officially discarded.

  5. Preferred Learning Modalities

Reopening decisions is just one of the pressing issues that schools face during a pandemic. Some school districts used custom questions in a collaborative effort to better accommodate the preferences of families for in-person, hybrid, or remote learning.

  6. Consent for COVID-19 Testing

In some districts, schools in designated “cluster zones” may require testing for a percentage of students and staff to remain open for in-person instruction. In preparation for this, schools have used the FamilyID platform to collect signed COVID-19 testing consent forms.

  7. Mobile Health Screening

This past year, FamilyID has also rolled out new updates to our mobile app for Enhanced Attendance and Mobile Event Tracking! These updates include the addition of fully customizable tracking field questions so that coaches can collect information that can be shared with opposing team coaches to ensure no one on the field is experiencing symptoms.

As we look ahead to a brighter future, FamilyID is proud to continue supporting our school districts in their efforts to keep their communities safe.
